Step 1: Read a short story about a historical court case called Brown vs. Board of Education. Step 2: Pretend you are the girl, Linda Brown, from the story and write a letter to the principal of the white school telling him why you should be allowed to attend that school. * Be sure to include some information about respect. * Click here to see a sample letter Step 3: Using the piece of paper your teacher gave you design part of a quilt. Include things such as your name, and pictures of things you like to do. Step 4: After everyone has completed their letter and part of the quilt, we will discuss the importance of respect in the story and put the quilt together |
