Process

Step 1:  Read a short story about a historical court case called Brown vs. Board of Education.

Step 2:  Pretend you are the girl, Linda Brown, from the story and write a letter to the principal of the white school telling him why you should be allowed to attend that school.

* Be sure to include some information about respect.

* Click here to see a sample letter

Step 3:  Using the piece of paper your teacher gave you design part of a quilt.  Include things such as your name, and pictures of things you like to do.

Step 4:  After everyone has completed their letter and part of the quilt, we will discuss the importance of respect in the story and put the quilt together
