Writing up the Research

  1. After you have done your research, print out the

Organizing your Research worksheet and make an     outline of what you want to write about.

  1. Use your outline to write 3 or 4 paragraphs about the caving paintings.
  2. Read through your writing and make sure you do not see any grammar errors. Make sure your writing is clear and easy to read.
  3. After your group has completed all of these steps, have Writing Conference to edit your writing.
  4. Discuss with your group which cave painting best depicts life during the Ice Age. Place your writing in your journal.

Re-creating the artwork

  1. Next, look at your cave painting again and think about how you could re-create the cave painting in the same style.  Keep in mind the following:
  • What kind of medium should you use to make it look as close to the original as possible?
  • Are the colors bright, dark, bold, and washed out?
  • Would it be best to draw it first with pencil?
  • What are the subjects in the cave paintings?
