Task

Amish live in communities. You also live in a community. A community is a place where people can get the things they need and want, and also where they live and work.

We will begin our journey by visiting an Amish community in Adams County, Ohio.  We will visit the Miller's Farm and the surrounding area to get a taste of the Amish life.

Before the field trip the topics students need to pay extra attention to will be written on the board and the students are to copy it down in their notebooks.  Use this background information to formulate questions for discussion.

4. We will have a short lesson about the Amish, you will then be asked to make a table describing the similarities and differences between our community and the Amish community.

5. At the bottom of your page you will write a paragraph discussing the differences of the two.  If you like you may also draw a picture along with the table and paragraph.

6.  To make this a fun and exciting close to the lesson on the Amish, we will have an Amish Day!!  Samples of Amish food will be brought in, Amish hats, and clothing will be available for students to try on.
