 Introduction

Spain is a small country smaller than Texas, but bigger than Ohio. It's located in the European Continent. Today, we are going to learn about this culture. We are going to learn about the major cities, bodies of water that surround Spain, and the countries that border it. Imagine that you have a pen pal from Spain, and he/she is planning to visit with your family for a week. You are in charge of introducing his/her culture to your family and friends.

 Task

The task will be divided in two sections.

  • First task: the students will be grouped to work in a PowerPoint presentation. There will be four students per group. Each group will investigate about languages, religion, festivals, and food from Spain. Students will have one week to research the topics, and create the PowerPoint presentation to present in front of the class. Each presentation should be 15 to 20 minutes long, including a handout for each student and an additional two questions to be tested on a later day.

  • Second task: students will work independently to complete a blank map of Spain and surroundings. Each student will label the blank map by using the giving clues. They will locate the following countries, bodies of water that surround Spain, and the countries that border it: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Pamplona, Cordova, Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Strait of Gibraltar, Andorra, Portugal, and France.
