EXPLORING SIMILARITY
( A Webquest for the Junior High Classroom )
INTRODUCTION:
" What's the point of geometry?" "Why do we have to know this?" These two questions have been repeated numerous times by geometry students and can easily be answered by setting up real world situations. In the real world, there are many professions that deal with geometry, either by the use of shapes and tools, or by going to the extremes of figuring out areas and volumes of objects. For example, in this particular webquest, the students will play the role of a carpenter. The class will use geometry to construct something that is a part of their everyday lives, their bedrooms.
