Process
1. You will be assigned to a group of five students. There will be a total of four groups.
2. Washington D.C. has been divided into four areas: Capitol Hill, Arlington, National Mall, and Federal Triangle.
2. Each group will be assigned one the four areas stated above to explore and research.
3. Once your group has been assigned an area, you should begin planning for your trip. Your group should discuss how to divide the research.
4. After learning about your designated area, your group will create a travel brochure to showcase all of the exciting landmarks and sites your area has to offer. (Students may either use a computer program to create the brochure, or construct it by hand using construction paper).
5. Your group will also give an oral presentation to the class in which you will present your brochure. During your presentation you should try to persuade your classmates into visiting your area of Washington D.C.
Your brochure should answer the following questions:
What tourism attractions should you visit while in this area? (landmarks, monuments, museums)
Don’t forget to include historical background information.
Ex. When were the monuments built?
For who was the monument built?
What did you learn about the area that you visited that you didn’t know before?
*** Be sure to include pictures of the sites you visited and researched.
