3.    During your investigation, you will use the links provided above to find facts and specific information about your endangered animal.  This information includes:

a.    Scientific and common name

b.    Lifespan

c.     Geographic location and habitat

d.    Food sources

e.    Predators

f.     Reasons for endangerment

Keep in mind that your group is not limited to finding only the preceding information.  You may include as much detail as you would like!

4.      Once your group has gathered the information about your animal, you will create a poster displaying your findings.  On this poster, you will be required to show that you did research the animal, but you should also use pictures and color to make your poster come alive.  BE CREATIVE!  Also, do not forget to give credit to your sources of information:  Plagiarism is a crime!

5.      As a group, you will write a persuasive essay that will be sent to your Congressional representative explaining the importance of protecting endangered species and encouraging him or her to take more action in the preservation of such animals.  For assistance in writing a persuasive essay, you may visit one of the following websites:

6.    Each group will give a 5-10 minute presentation to share with the rest of the class.  One or two group members should explain the poster that the group has created, and one member should read the letter.  In addition, the group may add any other final comments they have regarding their project at the conclusion of the presentation.
