Artifact Name:  Profession Development Plans

Date:  Fall 2007

Course:  EDEC Methods

NAEYC Standards:  #1 Promoting Child Development and Learning

#3 Observing, Documenting and Assessing to support young children and their families

 #4 Teaching and Learning

#5 Becoming a Professional

Rationale:

My Professional Development Plans, an artifact created as part of EDEC Methods coursework, illustrates my ability to identify a specific need or problem in a classroom.     It also demonstrates my ability to understand that problems will arise in the classroom, and I must be prompt and precise in identifying the problem and finding possible solutions to the problem.

The content of these plans directly reflect problems or situations that arose while doing my methods observations and my pre-student teaching.  These were actual situations that I was faced with and had to find a solution or possible solution to implement in the classroom.  Many of these problem/solutions were implemented in the classroom with a high acceptance rate.  However, one of the problems entails teacher attitudes in the classroom and grade level where I was placed.

This Professional Development Paper demonstrates my awareness of my desire to continually grow professionally and my awareness of problems faced within the classroom.  This artifact shows my desire to teach every student in the manner that is most beneficial to their unique learning needs, and to provide safe, and inviting environments in which they may learn.
