Artifact 5.1 Artifact name: Certificate of Completion of 7 Hour Health and Safety Module Date: April 2, 2005 NAEYC Standard 5: Becoming a Professional NAEYC Standard 2: Building Family and Community Relationships NAEYC Standard 1: Promoting Child Development and Learning Rationale: I have included my certificate of completion for successfully completing an early care and education health and safety training course. This seminar was presented to inform childcare workers of the dangers that are around children on a daily basis. We were taught the importance of noticing early signs of abuse, and what some of those signs could be. We were also informed of the different agencies that are available to assist children in difficult times. This certificate is consistent with Domain 5 along with the standards 1, 2, and 5. This class was taken to fulfill my obligations with the Department of Job and Family Services in the child care area. During my years as a child care provider I was able to promote learning and development, build family and community relationships with the parents of the children in my care, and also show my professionalism by owning and operating my own daycare facility. During my two years in this area I had a total of four children in my care, ranging from ages two to six. I feel I will be able to take the experiences I had during this time and use them productively in my classroom. I believe that my previous experience with children will serve as a great foundation for my educational journey here as well as enhance my employability in the future. |
